Administration
Crews and people
Create crews, invite people by email, and decide who can change what.
Flight Crews is a Runway feature, not part of EOS®. It manages who is on which team in this software, which is not the same thing as The Accountability Chart®.
A crew is a group of people who meet together. It owns its own scorecard, rocks, to-dos and issues, and it flies its own meeting. Most organizations start with one and add more as departments start running their own weekly meeting.
Two levels of membership#
People join your organization first, then join crews within it. The distinction matters for billing: seats are counted at the organization level, so a person on three crews is one seat.
Inviting someone#
Send the invitation
Invite by email address, from the crew, or from Settings → Organization. An invitation to someone already in your organization simply adds them to the crew.
They accept
Invitations arrive by email and in the Runway inbox, behind the @ icon in the header. Both organization invitations and crew invitations land there, and both can be accepted or declined from it.
Set their role
New members join as Member. Promote anyone who needs to manage the crew to Admin.
Roles#
| Member | Admin | |
|---|---|---|
| Add and edit items | Yes | Yes |
| Run and join flights | Yes | Yes |
| Rate the meeting | Yes | Yes |
| Invite and remove people | No | Yes |
| Change roles | No | Yes |
| Edit the crew's agenda | No | Yes |
| Delete the crew | No | Yes |
Give at least two people the Admin role on every crew. One admin is a single point of failure the first time they are on holiday.
Managing crews#
Creating one#
A crew needs a name and, optionally, a description. New crews inherit the organization's default agenda, which they can then override. See The agenda.
Removing someone#
- Removing a person from a crew takes them out of that crew's meetings. Items they own stay on the boards.
- Removing them from the organization frees the seat. Reassign anything they own first, or you will be hunting for orphaned rocks a month later.
People and seats#
The People page under Settings → Organization lists everyone, with the seat they hold on the Flight Deck chart beside their name. Being in a crew and holding a seat are different things: one is who you meet with, the other is what you are accountable for.
Adding a whole leadership team one at a time is tedious, so people can be imported from a file. See Importing your data.
