Getting started

Introduction

Runway runs your leadership team's weekly meeting as a single timed flight. Here is what the software does, and where to find the part you need.

What Runway is#

Runway is meeting software for a leadership team. One crew, one weekly meeting, run gate by gate against a clock, with the numbers, the quarterly priorities, the commitments and the open issues all in the same place the meeting happens.

It is built for teams running on EOS®, the Entrepreneurial Operating System®, and the weekly meeting it runs is the Level 10 Meeting®. You do not have to run on EOS® to use it. If you do, every section of the app maps onto a tool you already know, and you can switch the whole app into the words your implementer taught you.

The shape of a flight#

A meeting in Runway is a flight. It runs through a fixed set of gates, each with a time budget, in the same order every week. These are the seven that ship with a new account.

GateTimeWhat happens
Pre-flight5 minCheck in as people. Personal and business bests.
Control Tower5 minThe weekly numbers, on track or off. Data, not debate.
Flight Path5 minQuarterly rocks. Anything off track becomes an issue.
Announcements5 minShort people and customer news, good or bad.
To-Dos5 minLast week's seven-day commitments, done or not done.
Land the Plane60 minThe issues list. Identify, discuss, solve (IDS®).
Baggage Claim5 minRecap, then score the meeting one to ten.

The order and the minutes are yours to change, and you can add gates of your own. See The agenda.

Conventions in these docs#

  • Section names are written in Runway's own vocabulary: Control Tower, Flight Path, Land the Plane. If your organization reads the app in EOS® words, the same page is called Scorecard, Rocks and Issues. The vocabulary page has the full mapping.
  • Anything you click is written like Begin Boarding in bold, or in a mono box when it is a field name.
  • Where a Runway section corresponds to a part of EOS®, the page says so under its title, and links to EOS Worldwide for the tool itself. Where it does not, it says that instead.

Getting help#

  • Learning Center: short video walkthroughs of the same ground these pages cover.
  • Support: reach a human. Open to signed-out visitors too, so a login problem never locks you out of asking.
  • In the app, the ? beside a section title explains that section without leaving the page: open Runway.
