Flight Deck#
- "Start from the standard template" works. On a chart with no seats, the button offering the standard template did nothing at all. The canvas underneath it is draggable, and it was taking the press before the button ever saw it, so the button lit up and then sat there. Both it and Add the first seat now do what they say. The template is the usual starting point: Visionary and Integrator at the top, then Sales & Marketing, Operations and Finance & Admin underneath, with the roles already written in for you to argue with.
- A chart smaller than the canvas is centred. It used to sit against the left edge with all the empty paper on one side, which read like something had gone wrong with the layout. Charts too wide to fit still open scrolled to the middle, as before.
- The "No seats yet" prompt is centred too, in the middle of the canvas rather than tucked into its top left corner.
Nothing about your existing chart changed: this is where things are drawn, not what they say.
A new typeface#
Runway now reads in IBM Plex Sans, with IBM Plex Mono for the eyebrows, labels and anything numeric. They replace Outfit and Source Code Pro.
The reason is density. Most of what you look at in Runway is a table, a scorecard row or a list of to-dos, all set small, and Plex holds its shape at those sizes better than what we had: wider apertures, clearer numerals, and a mono that's a sibling of the sans rather than a stranger next to it.
The split-flap board on the home page keeps its own face, now a pixel one, because the flaps should look like hardware and not like the rest of the page.
